Dtv salutes Buzz, owner of Ngwenya Glass Factory who designed and produced this year's amazing trophy. "It's made from recycled glass. It's a handmade, first time design and you can't go and buy it anywhere else", is what Buzz had to say when asked why this trophy is so unique.
The Candice Rose

One of South Africa’s youngest and most active ambassadors for the deaf community, DTV presenter Candice Morgan, has been honoured by the naming of a rose after her.
The rose comes from the well known rose grower Ludwig Taschner who felt that this graceful rose, with its deep perfume and warm colours epitomised the vibrant, outgoing nature of Candice and the way she touches other people’s lives.

Poet, Mak Manaka, performed a praise poem to the patron of this year's Zwakala - Be heard. He specially wrote and dedicated his poem to Ma Sisulu.
"Speak, Mama, speak.
Speak with the womb on your tongue
that gives life to metaphors
while judgemental similes
embrace the ground you stand on.
Clouds of the smoky world clear the sky
for you to fly
with open wings,
even birds love to hear you sing.
'Cause your voice carries the undefined
shape of that curly dread hair.
So speak, Mama, speak.
Mother of beauty,
your smile heals the wounds
of impoverished souls.
Dtv Salutes Natalie du Toit

Natalie du Toit made history by being the first ever athlete to compete in both the Olympic and Paralympic games in the same year. She has become a great role model not only to people with disabilities, but to people all over the world.
Dtv caught up with her during her recent visit to Johannesburg. Don't miss Dtv to see Natalie's message to South Africans.

Dtv salutes the South African Deaf Squash team. They were nominated for the 2008 Disabled Sports Team of the Year Award. The award went to the Sout African Paralympics Team. The second award, Disabled Sportswoman of the year went to Natalie du Toit.
HIV/AIDS Counselling

The Deaf Community of Cape(DCCT)would like to take this opportunity in introducing their HIV/AIDS programme as well as the 3 Deaf lay counsellors to the wider Deaf community.
As some of you already know, for the pass 3 years DCCT has embarked on an HIV/AIDS training programme. During the 3 years the following training was conducted:
Training of 5 Deaf HIV/AIDS Information Officers
2 days HIV/AIDS camp attended by 30 Deaf youth
Outreach programmes in Atlantis, Paarl, Vredenberg, Khyalitsha and at the Bastion in Newlands
